Rising to the Challenge

Rising to the Challenge

Together with kindness and in understanding, let’s take this time to self reflect. I am here to inspire, encourage, and remind you that God has given us the most important weapon we have to fight the enemy, his Word.

Now let us dress our soul like we dress our bodies, EVERYDAY!

Rising to the Challenge

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken, struck down, but not destroyed.” II Corinthians 4:8-9 ESV

Rising to any challenge start with you! Challenging ourselves is a way to discover our real strengths. We are able to build character, consistency, along with humility as we learn what it takes to reach our goals. Keep in mind that our challenges have nothing to do with other people. It is much more personal than that dear hearts. It is about you and your commitments to self.

All challenges require consistency, willingness, and endurance. I love how this scripture shares with us the opposite of chaos. We are not crushed, nor driven to despair, forsaken, or destroyed. Yes we still have a lot more work to do as we face those challenges. Are you ready to take the next steps from vision to completion, and of course everything in-between. Matthew 19:26 NKJV, “But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God All things are possible.” No doubt about it, God is our source, nothing is too hard for him.

As I look through the scripture I see plenty of examples of rising to the challenge. Look at Gideon and his army of three hundred, David and his slingshot as he faces the giant, and the three Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace. What is the one thing they all have in common regarding their challenges? They put God in front seeking his help and guidance. Here are a few other areas to work on as you work in the challenges. Recognize the resources that other can bring to you. Do your homework, it’s important to take the time to learn what you love. Stay on track, pay attention and stay woke. Learn to reset, pause, and rest.

When I think of the many challenges I have faced over the years, I am reminded of the importance of endurance. Kirk Franklin who is a choir director, gospel singer, songwriter, record producer, and author, has so many wonderful songs to keep us encouraged. From his 2015 Losing My Religion album, the song ‘Over’ inspired me to remember no matter what challenges I might face, I am definitely not alone on my journey. In his word he tells me, “yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” Romans 8:37NKJV. When you get the chance give it a listen and be prepared to get your praise on! Here are some of the lyrics:

It’s not over
If you’ve got air to breathe
It’s not over
Don’t believe everything you see
You’re a fighter
Weapons from somewhere higher

They light up when you’re closer
If God says it’s not over
Get up ’cause it’s not over

Remember we are each others keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

Take Heart

Take Heart

Together with kindness and in understanding, let’s take this time to self reflect. I am here to inspire, encourage, and remind you that God has given us the most important weapon we have to fight the enemy, his Word.

Now let us dress our soul like we dress our bodies, EVERYDAY!

Take Heart

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV

Let me just start that scripture off with the biggest amen I got! AMEN! Can you see our Father sitting there with you as he encourages you to be strong and of Good courage? I see his hand upon my shoulder as he tells me not to fear or be afraid of them. Quietly in my mediation the tears flow from my eyes as he says to me with tender loving care, that he is the Lord My God, and he is the One who goes with me and that he will not leave me or forsake me. Children of the Most High God, look up to the hills from whence cometh your help!!

The word tells us to,” Wait for the LORD; be strong and “take heart” and wait for the LORD. “Psalm 27:14 NIV. What does that mean? It means to be brave, courageous, stouthearted, and confident. Take heart is defined as to gain courage or confidence: to begin to feel better and more hopeful taking heart; things will get better soon.

Do not think the enemy doesn’t believe in you, because he does. That’s why he’s always hassling you and acting a dang fool with all of his trickery! He is petty and wants to get you out of your character. He wants our peace, joy, and happiness. He is willing to do whatever it takes, to get us to believe his hype. But Look at the Son of God, coming to the rescue as he reminds us to be of good cheer, for He has overcome the world. This is our inner peace and the victory Christ gives to his followers. Satan was no match for King Jesus then and that still remains the same today!

Remember we are each others keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

Mind over Matter

Mind over Matter

Mind

“and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.” Colossians 3:10 ESV

Arthur Fletcher, former head of the United Negro College Fund coined the well-known phrase, “A mind is as terrible thing to waste.” The inspiring slogan came out in 1972 and brought a new awareness geared toward the education of black kids as an issue of social justice. When I was a kid, I remember watching those powerful commercials and wondering why would anyone want to waste a perfectly good mind. We have all seen how addiction, devastation, and destructive actions have destroyed a perfectly good mind.

The book of Colossians shows us what happens when we put on our new self. We are renewed in knowledge. Would you or I have ever been able to do half of the amazing and incredible things we’ve done if we had not made up our minds to do so?

In both Hebrew and Greek the word mind is translated to mean the “heart or inner being.” The book of Matthew 22:37 NKJV, Jesus tells us how we connect with God. He says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” The key word here is “with all.” Give over to him everything you got both inside and out.

Changing things in our lives no matter how big or small, requires us to first recognize something needs to change. Secondly, once we have identified it, then we must put in the work to change. Change is about YOU and always being the best version of yourself. Can you teach a old dog new tricks? Well, the way I see it, is if the old dog wants to learn new tricks and has made up in his mind to do so, then he will.  There is nothing like a renewed sense of self purpose in the knowledge of Jesus Christ who has the power to help us. Hallelujah!

See and believe it. I want to leave you with John 14:12 KJV, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my father.”

Remember we are each others keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.
