What a Friend We Have In Jesus

What a Friend We Have In Jesus

Together with kindness and in understanding, let’s take this time to self reflect. I am here to inspire, encourage, and remind you that God has given us the most important weapon we have to fight the enemy, his Word.

Now let us dress our soul like we dress our bodies, EVERYDAY!

What A Friend We Have In Jesus

1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

🎶 🎵 🎼 Sing along with me,

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

The greatest friend anyone could have is Jesus Christ. He gladly calls us friend, and he proved his commitment and affection for us in a convincing way: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for his friend.” He demonstrated his love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, he died for us. What an amazing gift to have a friend. They are so few and in-between. I believe we were created for relationships and friendship is an important part of what keeps us human. This week I had dinner with a very good friend of mine. The pouring rain could not have kept me away. Picking up where we left off, we talked about our careers, what we are passionate about, our children, and families. Did I mention the tons of laughter and smiles we shared? What a blessing.

What should a true friend be:

A true friend loves at all times, gives heartfelt and thoughtful advice, authentic, they share life’s journey with us, forgiving, very loyal, consoles us when we are in trouble, celebrate our success, encourages us to keep going when things get hard, cries with us, praying for and with us, dreams with us, they are vocal cheerleaders and our biggest fan. Do you have friends in your life that you know without a doubt, we’re hand picked by God to be in your life? Friendship, what a beautiful gift we can share with others for life.

Remember we are each others keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

We All Need Somebody to Lean On

We All Need Somebody to Lean On

We All Need Somebody to Lean On

Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.” Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled. And He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.” John 11:32-34 NKJV

Singer-Songwriter and musician Bill Withers had several hits over his 18 year career span. He brought us timeless hits like: Ain’t no Sunshine, Just the Two of Us, and Lean on Me. As I listened to the words to Lean on me, he sang, “we all need somebody to lean on.” As I continued listening and singing along I was reminded of my scripture of the day. Mary and Martha needed someone to lean on when their brother passed away. Jesus was that someone. And just like they needed a leaning post, we do too.

Lazarus of Bethany, was the brother of Mary and Martha. These three siblings were friends and disciples of Jesus. They loved him and he loved them. The Bible tells us little about Lazarus the person. We don’t know his age, what he looked like or his occupation. What we do know is an urgent message came from Bethany to Jesus, that Lazarus had become ill, and Mary and Martha wanted him to come and heal him, for he was near death. Jesus stated to his disciples that his illness would not lead to death; rather, it would be for God’s glory. Lazarus did die, but Jesus referred to him as “asleep” and told the disciples he was going to wake him up.

When Jesus and his disciples arrived at Lazarus’ home in Bethany, they found Mary and Martha grief-stricken. They had buried him four days earlier. Jesus said,“Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me” John 11:41-42. Jesus did the unexpected, raising him from the dead. Lazarus’ sickness, death, and restoration to life worked toward giving glory to God and increasing the faith of his followers.  When Jesus called Lazarus, he emerged from the tomb, alive and well. This is a miracle of the “Only God Can Kind.” The focus is on Jesus as the Son of God, and Lazarus served as an instrument for Jesus to provide proof that he was the indeed God on earth.

Remember we are each others keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

Whistle While you Work

Whistle While you Work

Whistle While you Work

“He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to 0ur God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.” Psalm 40:3 NKJV

Dear Hearts it’s a new year filled with new possibilities. Keep in mind first, that you don’t  have the time to be look back on yesterday stewing over the would, could, and should. You must keep your eyes looking straight ahead toward your goals. You got places to go and Jesus knows the way. He has some amazing blessings for you friends, so stay positive.

Next, you got to trust God and his promises. How can you learn what those promises are you ask? Well, you must get into the Word, start reading and seeking him out. I tell you this, if you are truly looking for him in your heart and mind, you will find him.

Thirdly, you want better, you gotta do better! Things like healthy eating and exercise can only go so far in your head or on paper. You have to become a person of commitment in your actions. Believe me, it’s a cute outfit but it will not make your work out better. You don’t have to break the bank either, brisk walk, bike riding, or choosing a piece of fruit are all great options.

Fourth, how about that much needed “Daily Soul Bowl” for your spirit. When you think about what he has already done for you, like bringing you into a new year and another chance to see your dreams come closer to being complete. You shouting yet? All things are possible through the Good Lord. Where men put a period, our God puts the comma of possibilities.

So whistle while you work with joy, for God has given us a new song. You have new opportunity to make this a great year starting with your attitude. This journey requires optimism to get to that next level.

Remember we are each others keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.
