Ready Set it’s a New Year!!

Together with kindness and in understanding, let’s take this time to self reflect. I am here to inspire, encourage, and remind you that God has given us the most important weapon we have to fight the enemy, His Word.

Now let’s dress our soul like we dress our bodies, EVERYDAY!

Ready Set it’s a New Year!!

“But blessed is the one who trust in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; Its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:8 NIV

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I will be leaving my trees up at least until New Year’s Day. As I reflect over this year in my own life, it has been a busy one for me friends. Out of the Belly Podcast, was up and running on March 3rd, then my second book, The Armor Project came out on June 1st. I have been going nonstop with no complaints. I am doing what I love and what God gave me. For me it doesn’t get any better than that. This has been an adventure of the God kind. And I am so grateful for everything He has given these hands of mind to do.

Those of you who have followed me on FaceBook, Instagram, TikTok, author’s webpage, and podcast, Thank you again. I am kept accountable and humbled to be a part of this amazing Christian journey, with so many soldiers just like yourselves who just desire to be a part of build up the kingdom of God and people from all walks of life. This work and journey mean something to me, and I am forever changed because of it.

This year Out of the Belly Podcast has been blessed to have some amazing guest, who shared some of their personal journeys and stories with us. I have learned so much from each of them.

Clarice Morgan, Social Worker and business owner of Black Clara’s Sweets and Treats.

Rev. Dr.  Horis Green, entrepreneur and founder of Five Brother’s Ministry.

Victor Hill, former police officer, mentor, and author of Spoonman.

Rev. Jimmy Smith, author of The God Squad: Be all you can be as a Kingdom Leader, mentor, and founder of Paradise Outreach Ministries.

Thank you all for finding the time to be a part of Out of the Belly Podcast History.

This year for me, has also been full of teachable moments, both personal and professional.  All my blogs podcast, and other encouraging writings that I have been blessed to share, helps me too.  They keep me rooted and grounded in my motto: we are each other’s keeper, and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

I am not big on New Year’s resolutions, but instead life changes that help to make me a better person. Like most things in life it is about decisions, choices, intentions and what we do on purpose to be a better husband, wife, parent, sister, brother, kinfolk, child to our parents, friend, and co-worker. The confidence we have friends, we have the full coverage of Jesus in our lives. Ready set, its a new year!

Remember friends, we are each others’s keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

Merry Christmas

10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.” Matthew 2:10-14 NIV

Christmas is one of my favorite holiday’s friends. I love decorating the house with various styles of miniature trees. I love putting up all my cute Santa’s that make the house look so festive and warm. I love watching my share of Christmas movies too. If I had to pick my top five Christmas movies, they would be Home Alone, The Santa Clause, Jack Frost, A Charlie Brown Christmas, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas all versions. From the 1966 original cartoon to Jim Carey’s 2000 live action movie, and then Benedict Cumberbatch’s 2018 animated version with plenty of laughs to go around. My favorite part of all those Grinch movies, is how a change of view, grew his heart.

Christmas is more than decorations, food, presents, and movies. It is about LOVE friends. The book of John 3:16 so eloquently puts it this way, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” God’s love for us brought him here. When I think of the real story of Christmas, I see it as the Creator our Heavenly Father stepping down into us, his creation. God had to come because nothing but Him had the power to save and reconcile us. And because of his love for us, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Yes, he paid it all on Calvary’ s Cross.

Why do I celebrate Christmas? I celebrate as a reminder to share the good news. Jesus he is the savior who delivered us from sin and death. He is the Messiah who fulfilled the law of the prophets. He is the divine Lord who has made an eternal bond showing us the way to salvation.

How do I celebrate?

I celebrate with gift giving, because of the indescribable gift God has given me. I celebrate with strings of light because the light of the world has come to us. I celebrate with songs because it is my expression of joy as I follow God’s example. I celebrate when I put my trees up as a reminder of how his life, has changed mine. No matter how you spend your Christmas, Keep Jesus in your holiday. Amen.

Remember friends, we are each others’s keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

When God Speaks

Exodus 3:1-5

New International Version

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”

When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”

And Moses said, “Here I am.”

“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

The story of Moses and the burning bush, can be found in the book of Exodus and through these incredible events, Moses encounters God on Mount Horeb and He reveals himself to him. How about it friends, have you ever had an encounter with the Good Lord?  The burning bush was Gods form made visible. I do believe that God shows himself to us in ways we can understand. What do you think?

Did you know that in scripture this was the first time the word “holy” was used in reference to God. Here we see God reveal his holiness in a way that had never been seen before. Moses even made a song about it. God holiness can be seen as he commands Moses to remove his sandals because he was standing on holy ground. Holiness involves separation. God’s holiness means that He is set apart from everything He has made, it is the distinction between God’s deity and our humanity. As God speaks to Moses he shares with him, his personal name, “I AM WHO I AM.” He has no beginning or end, he is Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last.

I can remember how my grandmother would adorn her Christmas Tree with plenty of cute trinkets of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Last year I did come into possession of one of her trinkets, a miniature white metal chair. As I searched carefully for a place for it on the tree, I thought about the tiny chair in my hand and what it meant. It was a tiny piece of my grandma’s favorite holiday. She loved Christmas. But I also saw God in that image as my resting place, and the action of just having a seat. I can recall how during those intimate conversations with Him, I would just ask him, Lord what do you think?” ” What do I do and how do I get there from here?” Now that I have asked the questions, in my seat it’s time to listen to God’s answers.

God speaks to us through many ways friends. One way I believe is through people. Secondly, through the scripture. Thirdly, through praise, worship, and prayer time. He is never gonna leave us hanging, whether it’s yes or no, He always answers.

Hearing God speak to you starts from within, and there is where we must continue to building our personal relationship.  John 10:27 tells us, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” Are you ready friends? Are you ready to listen? Amen.

Remember friends, we are each others’s keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

Pack God in Your Suitcase

“If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.” Psalm 139:9-10 NIV

“He’s in here somewhere, I’m sure of it! Oh, there He is, in-between my face cream and hair roller bag!”

Seriously, it’s important to spend time with God a priority. That’s right while you are on vacation too. Before you hit the floor running to breakfast and sight-seeing, it’s essential to include some devotional and prayer time to thank the Good Lord for your R&R. There is that peace of mind, just knowing He is with me wherever I go.

Yes, friends its that time again! My Husband Michael and I are celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary early. And what better way to celebrate than on the high seas with a cruise to the Bahamas. Being passport ready is only part of the trip. The most important person we can bring with us is the Good Lord in our heart, mind, and through our actions.

If you are going to be traveling now, like my husband and I, or this Christmas, delays are often apart of it.  But it is also a perfect opportunity to fill your mind with God’s word and how you can pass on that kindness and patience toward others. You never know how your kindness could help someone who may have really needed it.

Here are some ways to keep Jesus in your vacation:

Start and finish each vacation day in prayer.

Pray together as a family or couple.

Set aside at least 10 minutes each day on vacation for scripture study.

Have a Happy and Safe Holiday friends. And remember, we are each other’s keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.
