Don’t You Dare!

Don’t You Dare!

Don’t You Dare!

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15 ESV

Yes, I am different, but isn’t that the beauty of us all? I have my corky ways, and I am interested in many things. Yes, I have my own unique style child, and I feel good in my own skin, most days, minus the hot flashes. My birthday was this past Monday; it is a time to reflect on these 56 years the Lord has given me. I thought on funny, good, bad, and ugly. I have thought about those things that have given me great joy, and other thoughts that hurt my heart. I am thankful for the healing of the Lord, who rocked me in his arms and wiped away the tears from my eyes.

The passage I chose to share today is a reminder that we must study God’s word, asking for clarity and understanding. With God on our side, we have no reason to fear or even worry ourselves. So don’t you Dare!

Don’t you dare, Not trust yourself and the process.

Don’t you dare, not believe in the God that lives inside you!

Don’t you dare, Not hold your head up high cause you got a lot to be proud of!

Don’t you dare, Not believe in your success!

Don’t you dare, Not believe in why you! Why not you!

Don’t you dare, Not believe that you’re not worthy, because you are.

Don’t you dare, believe the ignorance and foolish talk of man! You don’t have time for that!

Don’t you dare, believe that you don’t matter because you do. Your voice matters, your feelings matter, your life matters.

You are never alone friends. We are standing on the Word of God. We never need to be a shame. So be proud because you are wearing His name.

Remember friends, we are each other’s keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

If You Don’t Stand For Something, You’ll Fall For Anything!

If You Don’t Stand For Something, You’ll Fall For Anything!

If You Don’t Stand For Something, You’ll Fall for Anything

“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James 1:8 KJV

Why did I pick this title you ask? It’s attributed to something I read on the internet. Once again Donald Trump has turned faith into a fundraising tool. No, I am not a Fan! I usually don’t talk about the politics of this country on the show, but I had to address this article I read.

Trumps political action committee, Never Surrender, INC, emailed supporters asking for a 15-dollar donation, built around the slogan, “I want to try and get to Heaven.” Did you hear me? Can anybody/somebody tell me what a 15-dollar donation has to do with getting to Heaven?! These folks are gonna have to stop playing with God.

In my younger years as it relates to God, I was taught He is not a toy and if I want a toy, I need to save my change for TG&Y. That was our Walmart back in the day. And yes, unfortunately people are still falling for the political okie dokie! No matter what title you may hold, it’s makes no never mind to God. He has no respect a person. His eyes are in every place beholding both good and bad. People are going to have to wake up!

My title says it all. “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything!” This means that a person without core principles, values, or convictions is easily swayed by others, susceptible to manipulation. People are hurting, hungry, and homeless. People are forced to choose between medicine or something to eat, a roof over their heads or gas for work. People out there are giving everything they have to “someone” who has no concern about their yesterday, today or tomorrow. Make no mistake about it, God is watching, for every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess the deeds done in this body, Mr. President it called “accountability.”

So, my friends, if you want to stand for something. Stand on the promises of God. And remember a double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Let’s continue to rise above the foolishness! Amen.

Remember friends, we are each other’s keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

“Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces.” Jeremiah 23:29 ESV

Many song writers and musical artist have given us songs that speak to soul when it comes to survival. It inspires us to push forward even when it seems like the odds are against us. Songs like, Don’t stop believing, I’m still standing,  eye of the tiger, optimistic, war, He will make a way somehow,  pray on it, more than a conqueror, victory, Keep on moving, keep on pushing, wake up, let go, Thank you God, It is literally so many songs out there of survival and encouragement it is impossible to name them all. But there is one that comes to mind, that broke barriers in the 70’s and is still inspiring today. This iconic song, I will survive by glory Gaynor, hit number one in 1979. And it’s still surviving today. There are also shows about survival, like Survivor and the Amazing Race. these are just a few of the many television shows that showcase people pushing through obstacles.

The scripture I shared today, asserts that God’s word is a powerful force, and no matter what we are tackling it’s no match for our King Jesus. God’s Word is that fire and like a hammer it shatters the hardest of hearts, He is the way maker and the burden bear. That’s it friends, put yourself and whatever it is in His hands.

Remember friends, we are each other’s keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

Shotgun!

Shotgun!

Shotgun!

“He made him ride on the heights of the land and fed him with the fruit of the fields. He nourished him with honey from the rock, and with oil from the flinty crag.” Deuteronomy 32:13 NIV

The verse I shared today is part of the Song of Moses, that highlights God’s abundant provision for His children. Symbolizing his ability to provide blessings even from unlikely places. Isn’t that just like our God, who knows no limits. The title I have chosen to share, “shotgun” does have a few meanings and humble beginnings.

Shotgun Wedding, this term originated from threat of a shotgun by the bride’s father to force a reluctant groom to get marry to uphold the family’s honor. Riding Shotgun meant sitting in the front passenger seat of a car, it is a slang turn that derived from the old west where an armed guard would sit next to the driver of a stagecoach with a shotgun for protection against bandits. Shotgun the song, was an original song, sung by Junior Walker, who recorded it with his band, Jr. Walker and the All Strs. The Saxophonist ended up singing the lead vocal on the track after the originally hired singer didn’t show up. The song was released in January 1965 on the Motown (Soul Records) label and became a big hit reaching #1 on the Billboard R&B charts. Finally, Shotgun was also a very popular dance.

For our purposes today, I am using riding shotgun in a Christian manner. As a kid riding with my aunt around town my cousins and I would call shotgun or just simply say, I am sitting in the front, I called it first. On my spiritual journey, I welcome riding shotgun as I leave all the driving to the Lord almighty. With him in the driver’s seat I can experience victory, security, blessings, contentment, trust and favor. So just put your seatbelt on, turn the music up, and let our God guide you with his all seeing eyes. Let him take the wheel of your life, He knows the way.
