Secret Place

“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” Matthew 6:6 NKJV

This blog is dedicated to my Beautiful, Amazing and Talented daughter, Cherelle Nicole Kozak, also known as Cherelle K. She has worked hard, staying committed to her dreams and goals.  She has made a lot of personal and professional decisions. Working a full and part time job, spitting out smooth liquid gold lyrics from her head in a studio booth on the microphone. That mix tape is coming soon. She is a performer on the stage commanding attention wherever she goes, content creator, owner of Kozylipz lipline, and somehow has found a way to fit in  time to earn her Masters. Selling a brand is a lot of hard work. But she didn’t come to play, she came driven, focused, and determined to see her goals through. You and I have been doing some heavy praying together and a part. And yes, there is so much more to come, like your  first movie. Aint God good? I gotta say it, can I say it? “Welcome to the table girl!!!”

The scripture I chose today, is part of the Sermon on the Mount that instructs believers to pray in private rather than seeking public recognition. What is it like when you go to your secret place to talk to the Lord? As I get old I find myself taking advantage of it any and everywhere I go. It’s a confidential conversation about what surround me.

Thoughts from within my Secret Place:

Thanksgiving, Lord I am glad to have you to talk with.

Understanding, it’s nothing like giving yourself over to God’s kind of thinking. It’s actually less work

Guidance, I know the Lord has a plan for me and it’s very important that I stay the course. His timing is PERFECT.

Faith, believe Him.

Love, love is so essential, it’s nothing like loving what you do and being able to do what you love, just because you love it. God’s love for us, its why He sent His Son Jesus Christ.

Watch, Take you, them, it, this, and that to Him and watch the Good Lord work it out.

Remember friends, we are each other’s keeper and the only times we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

Trusting Our Children To God

Trusting Our Children To God

Together with kindness and in understanding, let’s take this time to self reflect.  I am here to inspire, encourage, and remind you that God has given us the most important weapon we have to fight the enemy, his Word.

Now let’s dress our soul like we dress our bodies, EVERYDAY!!

Trusting Our Children To God

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

I tell you, it’s nothing like Gods timing in all matters. I read a very interesting article about parents letting go of their adult children. It got me thinking about my 23 year old daughter who is embarking on her own new journey.  As I continued reading the article, I thought about how the last two decades was in preparation for her new beginning. The wait is over because it’s her time now.

As we trust our children to God we do so in faith.  Nothing seems to test our faith more than when we as parents let go. Letting go means we are giving them over to our Heavenly Father who will continue to guide them according to his will. Age was nothing but a number to my grandmother when it came to loving and supporting her 8 children. Just like the Lord gives us our children as gifts, we eventually have to give them back in his loving care. They are doing what we did at their age. Spread their wings and fly.

What is our new role as our children become adults?

Love is always a part of how we do things, it never fails! Pray with and for them concerning EVERYTHING. Encourage and support their goals and plans. When they need us, be more than just a checkbook, be present through text messages and calls. Respect their right to choose how they will handle decisions regarding their household. And finally plan a visit. It’s nothing like breaking bread together.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 NIV

Remember we are each others keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.

Children are a Gift

Children are a Gift

“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.” Psalm 127:3 NLT

I am a proud momma! My beautiful  22 years old daughter will soon be graduating from college. Where has the time gone? As I sit this morning looking at all the different pictures of her through the years, I give thanks to God for blessing me with her. I knew one day I would have to let her go and find her way in this world. Prayerfully trusting you to give her guidance and direction.  I think to myself, how will she grow if I don’t let go.

I am reminded that years ago I asking my grandmother how she did it, raise 8 kids. She looked at me with a loving smile and said, “with the help of the Good Lord and when they all got grown, I gave them back to him.”  Such wisdom my grandmother had. She reminded me of the importance of giving everything over to the Lord, including my child.

Let us thank God for our children as we love, nurture, and celebrate them. They are a gift.

Remember we are each others keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.
