Is That Tough Enough?
Is That Tough Enough

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song, I praise him. The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.” Psalm 28:7-8 NKJV
The Bible frames “toughness” as a mix of spiritual resilience, endurance, and reliance on God rather than human willpower. It calls for standing firm in faith and meeting hardships with grace rather than aggression.
- Spiritual & Mental Toughness
- Stand Firm: Believers are encouraged to be watchful, stand firm in faith, and “be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13).
- The Armor of God: Ephesians 6:10-18 details putting on spiritual armor to withstand tough trials and “the schemes of the devil”.
- Strength Through Weakness
- Relying on God: True toughness isn’t about doing it alone. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, God tells the Apostle Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
- Enduring Hardships: Romans 5:3-5 notes that problems and trials are purposeful, helping to develop endurance, strength of character, and hope.
- Courage and Bravery
- Fear Not: Joshua 1:9 commands: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Remember friends, we are each other’s keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.
