You Gotta a Weight/Wait
You Gotta a Weight/Wait

I Thessalonians 5:21, it reads, “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” And Hebrews 10:23, it reads, Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised). Both from the King James Version
The title I have chosen to call this lesson does two things; ask a question and makes a statement. Trying to decide which word I wanted to use I ended up using them both. Do you know what the word homophones means? It means the words sound just a like; however, they are spelled differently and have a different meaning.
Take my title for example, Weight and wait. The word weight (w-e-i-g-h-t) can be defined as heaviness, mass, load and a burden of pressure or force. It can also be the ability of someone or something to influence decisions or actions.
The word wait (w-a-i-t), means to stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something else happens. It also means standby, hold back, bide one’s time, hang fire, and hold tight.
When it comes to the first word, weight it can be the pressures we have in our lives, I am reminded we do have the Lord to whom we can bring all of our burdens to, don’t forget to leave them there. I am so thankful that we are not alone on this journey. God is there fighting all of our battles.
And the second word, wait, is expressed through the scripture, it says, “those that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they shall mount up wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Be of good courage my friends, God is going to strengthen our hearts no matter the weight/wait. All we gotta do is trust in Him.
Remember friends, we are each other’s keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.
