On The Road Again
On The Road Again
“As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven.” Act 9:3 NKJV
Paul who went by the name of Saul, was on his way to Damascus with a letter from the high priest of the temple in Jerusalem giving him authority to arrest anyone who followed Christ.
Our topic today explores Paul on the Damascus Road. I can see Paul on the road again, with no new expectations. But wait a minute y’all. Can someone say Atmosphere!? There was about to be a life changing conversion on this road.
Suddenly a bright light shone on Saul, causing his entire party to fall to the ground, and blinding him. Then Jesus spoke to Saul, asking him why he was persecuting him. At that time, it was pretty clear to Saul that he was having a heavenly experience of the God kind. Jesus identified himself and Saul was speechless. He responded by asking Jesus what he wanted him to do.
Saul was indeed having an experience, but he needed to meet with Ananias who would lay hands on him, he would receive the holy spirit, and be baptized. In Damascus he went for three days without eating or drinking, and then received his sight back. By the time it was all said and done, an ordinary man was given the opportunity to do extraordinary things. It’s just not his life, but you too friends. Change is here. You see it?
Do you remember your “Damascus Road experience?” That very first encounter with the Good Lord.
Remember we are each other’s keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.
