Women Warriors
Together with kindness and in understanding, let’s take this time to self reflect. I am here to inspire, encourage, and remind you that God has given us the most important weapon we have to fight the enemy, his Word.
Now let us dress our soul like we dress our bodies, Everyday!
I am the Warrior!!
Judges 5:24-27 ESV
“Most blessed of women be Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, of tent-dwelling women most blessed. He asked for water and she gave him milk; she brought him curds in a noble’s bowl. She sent her hand to the tent peg and her right hand to the workmen’s mallet; she struck Sisera; she crushed his head; she shattered and pierced his temple. Between her feet he sank, he fell, he lay still; between her feet he sank, he fell; where he sank, there he fell—dead.”
I read an interesting article about the remains of an elite Viking Warrior discovered in Southeastern Sweden after being buried for 1000 years. It was assumed that the warrior was a man, considering the lore of Viking Warriors. But the DNA of the warrior’s bones confirmed a shocking truth. The elite Viking Warrior, buried in an elaborate grave with two sacrificed horses, swords, arrows, and other weaponry, was a woman.
Deborah a prophetess and judge of Israel illustrates a woman in a position of power and authority in ancient times. She was the one the vision was given. She predicted that a woman would be the one the Lord would use to deliver Israel from the enemy. That woman was Jael. She was known as a brave and fierce woman warrior. She was also a woman of peace, but also recognized the need for violence when it was called for. She was an inspiration to women everywhere who are called to fight in times of war. Her actions show that women are capable of not only fighting, but winning. The event predicted by Deborah brought 40 years of peace to Israel.
The courageous spirit of women in the Bible operated in the face of difficultly, danger, and pain above fear with bravery in God’s strength. As you prepare for battle, you’re going to need a few things. First, Prayer. Daily prayer, to be effective you must cultivate a daily prayer habit. As you boldly come making your request to God, do so passionately with intensity. Pray without Ceasing, means to be consistent in your prayer. Pray with the expectation that we serve a God mighty enough to deliver on anything we ask of him. Pray and stand on His promises. Trust God to bring you peace and clarity for your situation. Continue friends to seek his wisdom as he gives you understanding for your specific needs.
Secondly, we must dress our souls for daily battle with the Whole Armor of God. We need his belt of truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes of Peace, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, and his Word, which is the sword of the Spirit. With every fight you face solider (warrior) the armor is the weapon we must have to defeat the enemy.
There were other women who were warriors; Priscilla, Mary Magdalene, Zipporah, Hannah, Esther, and you. Yes you! You’ve fought your share of battles too. Still fighting, speaking to the mountains in your life in Jesus name. I see the warrior in you. Lord knows it ain’t always been easy. You’ve had your share of challenges, setback, and tears. But look at that shine on you! You shine just like the stars in the sky and coming through it all, you still rise like the sun in the east. You are a beautiful woman filled with glorious purpose. You’ve been a lot of things, a mother, friend, teammate, Soror, daughter, Star, CEO, Wife, someone’s girl, Support system, and bread winner. By the grace of God, “you are what you are” and his grace toward you was not in vain!
You know I couldn’t let you all go without sharing one of my favorite fictional warriors. She comes straight out of the DC Comic Universe, Princess Diana of Themyscira, the Amazon/ Olympian demigoddess soldier, also known as Wonder Woman. In the movie Justice League she is asked by the terrorist leader, “what are you?” She responded, “A BELIEVER.” Then of course she lets him have it, as she criss crosses her braclets of submission together giving him an energy explosion in the face!! By the way that’s one of my favorite scenes.
Remember we are each others keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.
