Mind over Matter
Together with kindness and in understanding, let’s take this time to self reflect. I am here to inspire, encourage, and remind you that God has given us the most important weapon we have to fight the enemy, his Word.
Now let us dress our soul like we dress our bodies, EVERYDAY!
Mind
“and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.” Colossians 3:10 ESV
Arthur Fletcher, former head of the United Negro College Fund coined the well-known phrase, “A mind is as terrible thing to waste.” The inspiring slogan came out in 1972 and brought a new awareness geared toward the education of black kids as an issue of social justice. When I was a kid, I remember watching those powerful commercials and wondering why would anyone want to waste a perfectly good mind. We have all seen how addiction, devastation, and destructive actions have destroyed a perfectly good mind.
The book of Colossians shows us what happens when we put on our new self. We are renewed in knowledge. Would you or I have ever been able to do half of the amazing and incredible things we’ve done if we had not made up our minds to do so?
In both Hebrew and Greek the word mind is translated to mean the “heart or inner being.” The book of Matthew 22:37 NKJV, Jesus tells us how we connect with God. He says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” The key word here is “with all.” Give over to him everything you got both inside and out.
Changing things in our lives no matter how big or small, requires us to first recognize something needs to change. Secondly, once we have identified it, then we must put in the work to change. Change is about YOU and always being the best version of yourself. Can you teach a old dog new tricks? Well, the way I see it, is if the old dog wants to learn new tricks and has made up in his mind to do so, then he will. There is nothing like a renewed sense of self purpose in the knowledge of Jesus Christ who has the power to help us. Hallelujah!
See and believe it. I want to leave you with John 14:12 KJV, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my father.”
Remember we are each others keeper and the only time we should be looking down on someone is when we are helping them up.
